2-Year Old Check-Up

We had a great doctor visit for Matt!  Our pediatrician said that Matt's looking fantastic and growing at an awesome pace.  His weight and height continues to increase in percentile, and the doctor even thought that Matt's vocabulary had made leaps and bounds to where he doesn't need speech therapy {some of you know, but most might not know that at his 18-month check-up, we were on the cusp of needing to look into speech therapy}.  I did, however, say that I'm still a little bit down about the gap between his comprehension and verbalization, so the doctor said that if I wanted to get therapy on my own, he would be more than willing to write a script for us.  He figures, "can't hurt ya".  So I think I may go that route once I monitor how his speech is moving along after a few months in school.

Anyways, on to stats...
  • Weight: 31.5 lbs {80th percentile}
  • Height: 39" {>99th percentile}
    • Matt's in the 55th percentile for a 3-year old! So he's actually taller than the average 3yo!
  • Head circumference: 20th percentile {he get's it from his dada}
  • Favorite foods: Oatmeal, Hotdogs, anything from Chick-Fil-A, raisins, pickles, olives
  • Favorite thing to watch: Despicable Me
  • Favorite toy: any mode of transportation... cars, trains, planes and helicopters, etc.
  • Favorite sport: He's enjoying kicking the soccer ball now that he mastered it, but he still loves baseball
  • Favorite book: He loves his Goodnight Moon ritual whenever Jason puts him to bed, but he really likes any new book.  The kid loves to read {he certainly didn't get that from me, let's be honest...}
  • Favorite animal: He likes things that "roar" in books, but in person/at the zoo it seems he best likes the birds {again, something he gets from Jason}
  • Favorite topic of discussion: Matt loves to talk about the "Dada tree... BOOM", which is a recount of the time we were at my mom's house when one of her pecan trees fell about 4 feet from the house.  She had to have a service come out and cut that tree up, as well as take down the biggest tree in the yard -- the tree about 3 feet from her front porch.  We watched it from the french doors in the living room and as the tree climbers hacked off every 5 feet or so of the tree, it would fall and crash onto the yard, making a BOOM sound.  And since Matt loves to identify the sizes of things based on "dada" size, "mama" size, and "baby" size, he loves to tell the story of the big dada tree going boom on the ground.
