Cape San Blas, Florida

We are sunkissed and relaxed after our 5 days away at the beach!  It was a fun trip with our family to a teeny tiny remote cape in the gulf.  I'm not sure I would go back there {it was almost too remote for my liking}, but we sure did have a good time while we were there.

The second we got to the house Jason and I walked the kids plus my niece down to the beach to investigate.  It was also Sammie's first time touching sand; she loved it!

The beach was covered with shells and Matt enjoyed shifting through the sand and washed up seaweed to find the coolest shells.  Lucy was also enjoying the beach, especially the wind in her curly-cue hair :)

After the beach, we came back to the house and jumped in the hot pool in the backyard.  It was seriously the highlight of the trip... to wake up and get in a freaking HOT pool that had sun hitting you from sun-up to sun-down.  Perfect!  Matt took a while to get super ballsy with the pool, but after a few days he would jump into it by himself and "swim" back to the ladder!  {Unfortunately, now he thinks he can do this all the time and ran, jumped, and smacked himself on Aunt Rah's pool steps.  Oops.}

Sammie is a total waterbug!  She loved being in her float and splashing the water on her face and then giggling.  She was also awesome when we would hold her belly up -- kicking her legs and moving her arms in a breaststroke fashion!  Calm down, there, little Phelps :)

Lucy and I booked a horseback riding sesh on the beach.  Funny thing is, the day we booked ended up having a wicked storm that crept up on us {and it kinda spooked horses}.  We got DRENCHED with hard, stinging rain that was being thrown at us from some intense rain!  The horses, who are obviously well trained and docile -- otherwise they wouldn't be doing their job -- were very uneasy with the weather and kept trying to go out of line, would turn around and thrust their heads, or try to head into the ocean.  My horse was making it worse because she was the guide horse and we were leading our small group, so when she started to act up, it would get the other ones going.  Not going to lie, it was a tad bit scary!  But like most storms on the beach, it moved quickly and after about 20 minutes we were in the clear.  That's when Lucy and I entered an impromptu wet t-shirt contest...

My horse was named Jelly, but this one was my favorite!  This is Lightening Bug.  He's a handsome mustang {the only one out of the three stables in the area!}  He would nibble on my shirt and constantly lick my hands, arms, and face.

Lucy after mounting her horse, CeeCee.  She was hoping to get the white one, and she did!  The staff was impressed by her natural ability to steer the horse {I guess my birthday lessons to her paid off}  :)

Mid-ride, after we got rained on!

Bye, CeeCee!!!  Thanks for being an awesome and pretty girl!

Here's a view of the sunset from the 2nd story porch.  Below is a view of the beach from the 3rd story deck.  The beach was just one neighborhood road over -- a perfect stroll that the kids enjoyed {and me, too, since I love looking at homes}.

   Bye, Cape San Blas!  You were a little big of beauty that we enjoyed getting to know!
